A DOT Road Crew Boss Likes That EZ Street Asphalt Is Like “Cake Mix In Hamburger”

“Wintertime. Summertime. Rain. No rain. It works and it lasts.” Those are the words of one of the guys on this Sacramento County DOT road crew talking about why he likes their EZ Street. Being able to use it use it in wet weather is a bon. They definitely prefer it to using cutback. And yes, the crew boss says he thinks this stuff is “Kind of like cake mix in hamburger.” It’s that workable. He likes that it goes right in the hole, conforms to it, and bonds with the road. On the smaller holes, they just throw it in and tamp it down. On the bigger holes, they’ll use a vibratory compactor. And even a 20-year veteran of the DOT’s pothole wars thinks this is the best stuff she’s ever used. It’s always workable. It always stays in the hole. It always saves money.
